Good News...Bad News

Good News:
Pebbles has been scarfing down her special food that should cure her bladder stones.

Bad News:
It looks like congealed lard, and is so nasty that Allen was dry heaving as he spooned it (don't worry he used a disposable plastic spoon) into her bowl.

Good News:
Braedyn has slept through the night every night this week. HALLELUJAH!!

Bad News:
Allen called me this morning to let me know that my all time FAVORITE food, Taco Bueno bean burritos, have 34 grams of fat in them--and I eat TWO everytime we go (and we go at least once a week). I am so devestated I have nothing else to say on this topic.

Good News:
Braedyn can now stand all by himself at his little play table!

Bad News:
Braedyn can now stand all by himself at his little play table! Where has my baby gone?! (And, no Mom this does not mean I want another baby.)

The Latest Adventure: Pebbles Goes to the Vet (and so does Brookelyn and so does Braedyn)

Pebbles had some issues over Christmas with blood in her urine, but after a round of antibiotics, we thought that it had cleared up. However, early this week we saw more blood in an accident (and she NEVER has accidents) on the laundry room floor. So, off we went to the vet (a different one than we saw over Christmas because I didn't like her)

Now, I knew (from our previous experience) that it would not be pleasant to take both kids and Pebbles to the vet, but I did not prepare myself for exactly how UNpleasant it was going to be! Things started out okay. Both kids in the stroller (which is way too big for a vet's waiting room) and Pebbles on her leash:

But man did we go downhill fast! Of course Brookelyn wanted out because the (little white lie) story I had made up about the vet making all little girls sit in their strollers was busted when she saw two other little girls running around like wild banshees in the waiting room. And, like any dog would, Pebbles wanted to sniff any object that smelled or looked like a butt (and there were plenty of those too)! Then we shifted in to high speed slolam downhill when Brookelyn loudly announced, "I need to go PEEEEE-PEEEEE!" So off we went (yes Pebbles too) to the teeney tiny potty. I was over Brookelyn sitting on the filthy potty because a multi-tasking mommy can only do so much (and holding onto Pebbles' leash while holding onto Brookelyn's arm while pleading with Braedyn to hold on another minute is about all I can handle) but when Pebbles twisted so that her collar popped off and somehow managed to sling itself into the space behind Brookelyn's hiney and fall into the now full of pee-pee toilet I almost gave up. But like a good mommy (and trust me I use the word "good" very loosely), I wiped Brookelyn, dug the wet collar out of the toilet, pooped it back on Pebbles, and walked back into the waiting room like all was well.
Finally the vet saw us and we learned that poor Pebs is almost all the way blind in her right eye and losing vision in her left due to cataracts and that she had little stones in her urine sample (which is a whole other story; I actually followed her around outside this morning and caught it in a Tupperware container--a really fun way to start your day). So the vet needed to do X-rays to see if Pebs had more stones inside. During this exchange the vet remarked how brave (I think she actually meant incredibly stupid) I was to bring two kids with me, and then suggested I leave Pebs and come back when the X-rays were done. So, off we went to the Golden Arches for some playtime for Brookelyn and a little snack for Braedyn.
When we got back to the vet, this was waiting for us:

The little red circle towards the right of the pictures shows three large stones and the many smaller stones can only be seen if you are right up close. Of course, in true Brookelyn form, she had to announce during the doctors explanation, "I need to POOPOO!" I tried to bribe her first with a hersey kiss, but while it worked for maybe 10 seconds, I had to give in when she proceeded to to put her hands down her pants and start bouncing. After excusing ourselves, Brookelyn doing her buisness, and listening to the rest of our plan of action for Pebbles (which thank goodness does not include surgery, but instead a special food which should dissolve the stones) we went out to the reception to pay and get our "goodies". At this time, Brookelyn decided to rub herself ALL OVER the floor, benches, tables, and any other surface that looked super doggy dirty. Finally, we paid and left.
As soon as we got home Brookelyn and I bathed Pebbles (Braedyn was asleep in the car--I had the back door open) and then I bathed both Brookelyn and Braedyn (of course he didn't sleep more than 7 minutes). I am hoping nap time will come sooner rather than later. This much drama is NOT normal!!

Braedyn Signing

We have started working with Braedyn to begin signing. Strangely enough, even though he isn't eating a lot, his first sign is cereal (and no he does not have on a headband; it is a hat):

As far as Braedyn's other "issues". I think the doctor scared him to death because he is now eating much better (only one brand of jarred baby food and only fruits), pooping (thanks to the 8 oz of juice he is now drinking each day per the doctor), and sleeping better. Let's hope the progress continues!!

Brookelyn Ballerina

We were playing dress up yesterday and Brookelyn looked so cute that I had to grab the camera. Here she is being a ballerina--"Brookelyn style!"

Poor Braedyn

Poor Braedyn! He is not eating, sleeping, or pooping.

EATING:

He has decided to swear off baby food altogether. He has never been much of a fan (of either my homemade or store bought organic), but now he simply seals his mouth closed. The only thing I can pretty much get him to eat (most of the time) is the little baby puffs. These have absolutely no nutritional value and very few calories (you have to have 90 to eat a single serving!) Here he is at dinner tonight:

SLEEPING:

So, I thought he was doing fairly well for a while, but not so much any more. For example, last night he slept from 8 pm until 4 am (with a feeding at 10pm). Then, cried until 5 am when I brought him in bed, nursed for an hour, and finally gave up at 6:45. So, I am thinking surely we will have a good nap today, but no. He did not nap at all until I finally put him in his bed at 12:30. Where, once in his bed, he cried for an hour and a half and then slept for 21 MINUTES!! THAT IS IT FOR THE ENTIRE DAY! And, this has become "normal".

POOPING:

Well, like eating and sleeping, this isn't happening either. And, when it does manage to occur, the results are like hard rocks. So, today I bought some glycerin suppositories and we had a "date". After I had the little pill was inserted I put him in the jumper to help things get a jump-start. Brookelyn was a great cheerleader--she stood in front of him and yelled, "Yeah Braedyn! Yeah Poop!" It was hilarious. So, not even 5 minutes later we had action. Poor guy he had a huge brown softball in his diaper.

Needless to say, we are off to the pediatrician tomorrow to see if we can't get things in all areas back on track!!

San Antonio Playdate

While we were in San Antonio for Christmas, we were lucky enough to be able to visit with our friends and Braedyn's Godparents from our old neighborhood. Brookelyn had so much fun, and we just couldn't believe how big all the babies had gotten!!
And, here are Madison and Brookelyn! They had so much fun on the slide--I only wish we were still there, so we could play together more often!
And here is Braedyn with his Godfather, Travis. Doesn't he look like a natural holding a little boy? Hint...Hint...Kristine!!

Brookelyn and Braedyn Playing

Yesterday while I was cleaning I gave Braedyn a lingerie bag to play with to keep him busy. Brookelyn was vaccuming, and I was scrubbing the bathroom when I heard Braedyn squealing. This is what I found...

Braedyn's First Haircut

We took Braedyn to get his hair cut at the same place Brookelyn got her first haircut. Actually, we were even lucky enough to get the same lady to cut his hair as did Brookelyn's her first time!He did so well--only a little fussing when she trimmed around his ears.
We went for the faux-hawk; he can show his angelic side and wear his hair normally, or he can rock the mohawk and channel a little of his sister's mischief!
Cousin ACE also decided to get a faux-hawk!
